My neighbor asked for a ball and chain cake for her boss that is getting married, so I wanted to tweak the typical groom's cake of a ball and chain to add more humor. This was my first time creating a character for a cake and it was much easier than I expected and I had a lot of fun making "him". I used rice crispy treats for the steeple and covered it in fondant. I also made the chain and groom out of fondant. This was also my first time trying a new technique to ice and smoothe the "ball". This cake was, as usual, a lot of fun to make. I hope the groom-to-be and co-workers laughed as much as I did after putting the cake together!
They all loved the cake. And to our surprise it was the best tasting cake we ever had. I may need a baby stroller or something for a babyshower in June, I will be calling you!!
