Winnie -The- Pooh

For my niece's 2nd birthday (in September 2009), my sister wanted a Winnie-The-Pooh cake, so we put together some ideas of how to make the cake. I really wanted to challenge myself so I combined a few ideas that I found online to come up with the honey pot cake. This was the first cake of this size and that I carved, so I was nervous, but it was surprisingly MUCH easier than I expected and I had a TON of fun making it. Getting it to the party was a different story, but the cake made it with only a few thumbprints on the bottom. I've learned to really secure the cake to the board after that! The top of the cake was a toy at Target that stacked on top of each other. I hot- glued the characters together so they wouldn't move and it worked out perfect! The bees are made out of fondant and the rest of the cake is made out of homemade buttercream.

  2. Hey Beth! Love the blog and all of the cakes that you have made thus far! I was telling my sister about your cake decorating and a couple of the images you have on facebook! I was wondering if you would be willing to make the cake for my wedding shower. I have no idea what we would be looking for or if I even have a say in it. Jen may contact you personally, so if you are up for it, I will give her your number! The shower is May 1st and you will be receiving an invitation anyway, so you could show off your cake at the shower!

  3. Jamie!!! yeah I'll definitely do your cake! I'm running in the Pittsburgh Marathon on May 2, but that shouldn't interfere with making your cake!! Thanks for following my blog!! I can't wait to add your wedding shower cake blog on here!
